February 22, 2013 – Yellow Cab of Savannah is pleased to announce that they have launched the first mobile taxi booking app in Savannah, making ordering a taxi easier than ever. Yellow Cab’s new TaxiHail app, developed by its taxi dispatch technologies partner, Mobile Knowledge, enables users to book a trip in seconds and then watch the dispatched cab moving toward them on their “smart” devices.

The Yellow Cab of Savannah app is available for both Android and iOS smartphones or tablets, and has been approved for both Google Play and Apple’s App stores. In addition, the offering includes a custom branded website for on-line bookings. Passengers booking through the website can see these reservations on the app as well when they leave their desk to meet their cab.

Users who download the Yellow Cab of Savannah app can quickly create an account with an email and telephone number, and book their first ride immediately thereafter. The app allows users to define their pickup and destination points, and even obtain an estimated fare for the journey. Passengers are provided with a confirmation number along with periodic updates when they are assigned a vehicle. They can see their vehicle on a map as it proceeds towards the pick-up address, and are notified when the vehicle is out front. At the end of the ride, the app can email a receipt with the details of the trip for accurate and convenient expense tracking.

Additional features include the ability to define favorite locations, rebook a previous trip, and select a pickup or destination address based upon Google Places lookup. Users may also set preferences for vehicle type, payment method and number of passengers.“We wanted our customers to be able to order a cab as quickly as possible, and with our Yellow Cab of Savannah app, we’ve done just that,” says long-time Yellow Cab owner, Larry Green. “Thanks to GPS technology in customer smartphones, the app pinpoints the customer’s exact physical location and can dispatch a Yellow Cab to them immediately. Our dispatchers are still available to take phone call orders, but now it’s possible to order a cab and have it dispatched to you without calling us.
